On 11th October 2025, the Swacchta Action Plan Committee of Unity College organized a meaningful visit to the House of Friendship old age home to commemorate and honour Senior Citizens Day. A group of 17 students accompanied by 4 faculty members took part in the program.
The students conducted a short yet heartwarming and uplifting program that included songs, verses of encouragement, and prayers dedicated to the elderly residents. Followed by Ma’am Akok Lucy, the owner of the home, sharing about the mission and activities of the House of Friendship. She encouraged the students to spread the message of love and care for the elderly, reminding them that our senior citizens are valuable “old friends” who deserve respect, care and affection.
Some of the senior citizens also shared their personal life stories and experiences, which deeply touched the visitors. The interaction fostered empathy, understanding, and gratitude among the young students. Light refreshments were offered, and simple gifts were handed over as tokens of love and appreciation to commemorate the occasion.
The visit concluded with heartfelt conversations and laughter, creating a warm bond between the students and the residents. Overall, the program was a meaningful and enriching learning experience that strengthened the spirit of compassion, service, and respect for the elderly, embodying the values of love and care for senior citizens.
