Computer Science Field visit to Kohima Smart City Development Ltd

On 12th January, 2026 the Department of Computer Science conducted a field visit to Kohima Smart City Development Ltd. The objective of the visit was to educate and increase the student’s awareness of recent trends and technologies and how the application of various tools and technology can be implemented for an efficient and sustainable life.

During the visit, Er. Ketusezo Rote, Sr. Technology Officer, IT Kohima Smart City Development Ltd, gave an overview of Kohima Smart City Development Limited (KSCDL) and the tools and applications used by the company. He mentioned that, initially the project was for 5 years which began its operation in 2018 and extended for another three years. The KSCDL which operates as an Integrated Command and Control Center (ICCC) focuses on safety and security through surveillance. It monitors the movements of cars using ANPR (Automatic Number Plate Recognition) which helps in locating stolen or suspicious vehicles.

Er. Metsivoyi, Sr. Server Engineer and Er. Vetalu Theyo Jamir, Sr. Network Engineer give a tour to the Server and network room where they explained the setup of the server, how the data are backed up and secured and the setting and maintenance of the network. 

The tour concluded with Q & A from the students.

A total of 13 BCA students and 3 faculty participated in the field visit.
