The Department of Education, Unity College conducted the 3rd Lecture Series on the topic “Rethinking Higher Education in the Age of AI”, with Dr. Tiatemsu Longkumer—Founder of the NorthEast Scholar Network and Senior Lecturer at the Royal Thimpu College, Bhutan—as the resource person on 23rd January, 2026. Dr. Longkumer discussed the evolution of Generative Artificial Intelligence, both in general and with specific reference to the education sector. Drawing on his background as an anthropologist, he presented insights into how Generative AI is reshaping our ways of learning and knowledge construction, and emphasized the need to rethink pedagogical practices in higher education. The lecture also highlighted practical ways of incorporating AI into the educational sector and encouraged educators to actively explore and engage with AI as a tool for teaching, learning, and research
