Unity College observed its 20th Freshers’ cum Annual Day at the College premises on 11
September. The formal programme was chaired by Ms. Litoni Kiho, Asst. Professor, Department of
Environmental Science.

Dr. Lichumo Enie, Principal, Unity College, extended a heartfelt welcome to the incoming batch
of freshers for the Undergraduate, Postgraduate and B.Ed programme. Positing that college is a
place where one often discovers oneself, he challenged the students to be bold and inquisitive.
He also invited the freshers to blend in with the college’s congenial environment and practice
good moral conduct.

The Guest of Honour, Dr. Kethoser (Aniu) Kevichusa (Executive Director, BMS World Mission)
commended the college for its commitment to diversity and inclusivity. In his address, he
emphasized holistic growth-nurturing academic, mental, and spiritual growth and urged students
to embody the values of servanthood to enrich themselves and their community.
The event also felicitated the UG, PG and B.Ed rank holders and subject toppers of Nagaland
University, which was followed by the official release of the College’s annual Journal and
Magazine.

Speech on behalf of the seniors and freshers were delivered by Ms. Viraseno Mejura (BA 5th
Semester, Economics Major) and Mr. Sumit Kumar (BA 1st Semester, Political Science Major),
respectively. The formal programme concluded with a vote of thanks by Ms. Orenponi Lotha
(B.Ed. 3rd Semester).

In a contest of wit, fashion and intelligence, Mr. Sheme B Phom and Ms. Sentisangla B. Chang
(Undergraduate), and Mr. Senmong A Pongen and Ms. Razoukhrieu Loucu (B.Ed.) were
adjudged the Mr. and Miss Fresher 2026, respectively. In the PG Category, Best Introduction- Ms. Loreni Odyuo, M.A. Education, secured the 1st Position, while Ms. Azila Y. Sangtam, M.A. History, secured the 2nd Position.
