On 28th January 2023, twenty three (23) students along with three (3) faculties paid a visit to District Agriculture Office (DAO) with an objective to learn and acquire research and extension of various activities in line with Agriculture Technology Management Agency (ATMA).
In imparting knowledge on Agri-farming and its allied activities the team members enlightened the students by giving PPTs presentations basing on the theme “Providing Youth with Extension Based Skills”
Dr. Ithika C Swu, Deputy Project Director (ATMA, Dimapur) in his welcome address enlightened the students present about the extension agencies of ATMA and how it operates.
Mr.Demalu, Block Technology Manager (Niuland) presented a PPT on the objectives and organisational structure of ATMA. He also highlighted the activities conducted by ATMA since its inception.
Mr.Kaiho Achumi, Assistant Technology Manager (Dhansiripar) briefed the students on Skill Training Of Rural Youth (STRY), a flagship scheme under ATMA, which was started for the unemployed youths to impart training on vocational areas. He presented a PPT on the trainings conducted under the STRY scheme of ATMA and highlighted the cause and effect of skill training. He emphasised on the importance of agriculture as a profession.
A presentation on mushroom technology and vermicomposting technology was given by Miss Vinatoli (Staff, ATMA). Various success stories were also shared to motivate the students.
In the feedback and discussion session, various queries were cleared on the schemes, the processes and livelihood earning through agriculture and allied activities.
This was followed by a visit to the Agri-Farm Machinery Store and demonstrations were conducted. Students were briefed about the importance of using farm machinery.
