Report on One Day Workshop on “Moving towards Inclusion: Capability Enrichment & Wellbeing”

The first session of the one-day workshop on “Moving towards Inclusion: Capability Enrichment & Wellbeing” was chaired by Dr. Adani Ngullie, IQAC Coordinator, Unity College. It commenced at 9:30 AM with welcome address by Dr. Lichumo Enie, the Principal of Unity College. Dr. Enie welcomed all the non-teaching and support staff members of Tetso College and Unity College who had gathered for this enriching session. He also stressed on the need to have such exchanges to learn from each other by exchanging experiences and learning techniques and nuances of logistics.

Ms. Kilentola Jamir, a seasoned Holistic Counselor and Mentor/Facilitator for Human Skills, was the resource person of the first session who proceeded with an insightful presentation on “Stress and Emotional Management”. Ms. Jamir delved into various techniques and strategies for managing stress effectively in both personal and professional life. She emphasized the importance of emotional intelligence in navigating challenges and fostering a healthy work environment. At the heart of her attention was the role of positive stress and how it actually pushes or drives a person to have a productive and positive output and contribution to the institution.

Following the presentation, there was an interactive session where participants engaged in discussions and shared their experiences related to stress management. Mr. Gladson, the Librarian at Unity College, and Ms. Viruno Yalie, HR Senior Executive at Tetso College, provided valuable insights based on their professional experiences. Their inputs added depth to the discussion and facilitated a meaningful exchange of ideas among the participants.

After the session, Mr. Gladson, Librarian of Unity College and Ms. Viruno Yalie, HR Senior Executive, Tetso College, shared their feedback on the presentation by Ms. Kilentola Jamir. Both expressed appreciation for the practical tips and strategies provided, noting that they found the session highly informative and relevant to their daily lives. They commended Ms. Jamir for her expertise and engaging delivery style.

The session concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Mr. Anjan K Behera, Acting Dean & IQAC Coordinator of Tetso College. Mr. Behera expressed gratitude to Unity College for being the resourceful host, and all the participants for their active involvement and contribution towards making the workshop a success. The session served as a platform for non-teaching and support staff members to enhance their understanding of stress management techniques and fostered a sense of inclusivity and wellbeing within the college community.

This was followed by the second session on “Capacity development, efficiency and ethics” which was chaired by Ms. Lochumi Lotha, Assistant Professor, Department of Commerce, Unity College. Resource person, Mr. David Zote, Joint Registrar, Manipur University in his speech talked on the meaning and significance of capacity development. His talk centered on improvement and development, emphasizing on the need to “invest in ourselves” by developing soft skills as a way of staying relevant in an age of Artificial Intelligence. He also spoke on the importance of team work and healthy ethical behavior in the workplace, stressing on punctuality, integrity and mutual respect as essential elements for collective growth.

During the interaction and feedback session, Ms. Eyingbeni Murry, Office Executive Assistant, Unity College and Mr. Rinsit B Sareo, Assistant Manager, IT, Media and Communications, Tetso College, added their own personal perspective and pointed out personal goals that align with the institution as key takeaways from the session.

A separate session on “Housekeeping Management” was held for the housekeeping staff which was chaired by Dr. Rosy Tep, HOD English and Asst. IQAC Coordinator, Tetso College. Ms. Dharya Luikham Metha, Visiting Faculty, Charis High Academy School, Department of Tourism was the resource person for this session. Ms. Metha in her presentation made a strong case on the role and importance of good housekeeping in different types of establishments. She also spoke on the duties and responsibilities of housekeeping. She further emphasized that good housekeeping is crucial for the sustenance of any establishment.
