About the club

The NCC Senior Wing at Unity College was established in 2011, with the objectives of offering opportunities to the students for personality development, character building and developing soft skills and to motivate them to join in Armed Forces. It also aims to discipline the cadets for a good formation of good citizens and future leaders.

Initially, NCC at Unity College was functioning under the administrative control of 1 Nagaland Girls BN NCC Kohima, enrolling only girls. After converting to 1 Nagaland BN NCC on October 17, 2024, the college now offers enrollment to boys as well.  This change has sparked great enthusiasm among male-students to join NCC.

Over the years, it has consistently trained and nurtured young cadets, fostering a spirit of discipline and leadership.  These cadets have actively participated in various State and National-level camps, showcasing their skills and dedications.

Composition

The NCC Unit at Unity College is led by an ANO and consists of Senior Wing (SW) cadets for girls and Senior Division (SD) cadets for boys.

Achievements

  • Three ex-cadets, namely Niboli N Chishi, Englem Konyak and Chonbenthung W Ngullie, have been selected as GD Constable in the Territorial Army, GD Constable, Nagaland Police and (GD, Agniveer respectively, in the recently conducted exams.
  • Cadets are actively involved in competitions such as Firing Competition, Drill Competition, Republic Day Camp, Thal Sena Camp etc representing the Unit and as well as Kohima Group NCC.
  • Two X- Cadet namely M Shoungoi Konyak and Letila Sangtam got selected in Staff Selection Commission GD Constable Exam held in 2022.
  • ANO successfully completed Refresher Course w.e.f 25th June to 24th July, 2018 from Officer Training Academy, Gwalior Madhya Pradesh.
  • ANO got promoted from the Rank of Lieutenant to Captain in the year 2023

Activities

  • JUO Talikala along with cadets from other institutions represented NCC Kohima Group and participated at the Inter Group Cultural Competition held at Jorhat w.e.f 1st to 5th July 2024
  • Capt. Cecilia Humtsoe ANO attended Refresher-cum-Promotion Course held at Officers Training Academy Gwalior, Madhya Pradesh w.e.f 11th July to 30th July. She has successfully completed the said course with ‘A’ Grade and having achieved ‘Certificate of Excellence’ in Lecture IP. The course was attended by 124 trainees comprising of ANOs, CTOs and GCIs from all the 17 Directorates in the country.

It comprises of ANO and cadets.  The authorized strength of NCC in the college is 54 and enrollment is held in the 1st semester.
