Mentor - Mentee System

With an objective to bridge the gap between the faculty and students, and provide guidance on matters of academic and professional development of the students, Unity College has implemented a very efficient mentoring system.

Mechanism:
  • Every faculty members are assigned about 25 newly admitted students as mentees to whom they serve as mentors throughout the period of their course till Graduation.
  • The mentors are provided with a teacher Dairy containing all personal and academic details of their respective mentees, which is updated throughout academic curriculum of the assigned students.
  • The mentors are consulted/informed in case of disciplinary issues on code of conduct with their respective mentees. Records of excellence or of disciplinary matters are also maintained.
  • Mentor Mentee sessions are held every week.
Responsibilities of the Mentor:
  • Maintain open and friendly environment between Mentor and Mentees.
  • Always be a patient listener to the mentees and be considerate and flexible towards the issues of mentees.
  • To build a relationship of trust by caring and planning for welfare of the mentee.
  • Motivate, guide, and monitor the mentees in all around development.
  • Encourage the mentees according to their interests to participate in various college activities.
  • To verify and forward the mentees leave applications leaves in times of sickness and unavoidable situations.
  • Each mentor maintains a Mentee profile with all details like parents name, addresses, and contact numbers.
  • Contact parents/guardians if situation demands e.g. irregularities, negative behavioural changes and interpersonal relations, detrimental activities etc.
Outcome of the Mentor-Mentee System:
  • Effective Communication between mentor and mentee which helps in understanding the academic and non-academic problems/grievances of the students.
  • Database which helps in monitoring the regularity of the mentee in the class and performance in the studies.
  • Build effective personal and professional relationships. Maintain relationships based on mutual trust, respect, and accountability.
  • Holistic approach which aims to ensure students develop not only academically and professionally but also personally, becoming well-round individuals ready to face future challenges.
