About

The Literary Committee of Unity College has a rich history dating back to its inception, initially under the Department of English until 2014. Since its establishment, the committee has been steadfast in pursuing its aims and objectives, which are aimed at fostering language appreciation, critical thinking, and creative expression among students.

One of the primary objectives of the Literary Committee is to instill in students the ability to appreciate and effectively utilize language. Through various activities and initiatives, the committee endeavors to imbibe critical thinking skills rooted in the proper usage of language. Moreover, it seeks to nurture and develop students’ innate creativity through the medium of writing.

The committee actively organizes a diverse range of activities and competitions at inter-departmental, college, and district levels. These include debates, essay and story writing contests, extempore speaking, illustrative poetry sessions, drama competitions, and more. Such events provide students with a platform to showcase their literary talents and hone their skills in various genres of writing and oration.

Notably, student members of the committee have consistently demonstrated their prowess by participating and excelling in inter-college and state-level competitions. Their achievements extend beyond college boundaries as they have also represented Unity College at district and state-level competitions, bringing laurels to the institution and highlighting the literary prowess nurtured within its walls.
