The Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) Cell of Unity College Dimapur was established in 2022. The primary objective of the Cell is to help educators and learners grasp the significance of intellectual property. By nurturing inventiveness and creativity among its members, the Cell aims to foster the creation of intellectual property (IP). It is committed to providing guidance and support to staff members and students in safeguarding their original ideas. By protecting ideas from theft or misattribution, the Cell enables creativity to thrive without fear.

To educate and counsel staff and students on the value of intellectual property, as well as the legal enforcement of those rights through court proceedings, the Cell organizes lectures and workshops. Additionally, it encourages faculty members to conduct internal patent searches to identify and protect their innovations.

The vision of the IPR Cell is to encourage, support, protect, and facilitate innovation and research. It aspires to become a hub for generating fresh ideas and inventions. The mission of the Cell is to provide resources for the development of intellectual property and to create an environment conducive to the exchange of creative ideas.

The objectives of the IPR Cell include educating the institution’s faculty and students on intellectual property rights, organizing training sessions and workshops on IP rights and application procedures, motivating academic staff and students to innovate and produce patentable works, imparting knowledge on copyright acquisition for academic publications, and raising awareness through activities such as IP Street Plays, IP Road Shows, and contests.
