Activity: Gender Sensitization Week
Gender Champions, Women Development Cell, Unity College observed the “Gender Sensitization Week” from 20th August to 24th August 2024 under the theme “Empowering Gender Equality for a Better Tomorrow”. The objective to observe the “Gender Sensitization Week” was to build responsible champions/leaders to facilitate an enabling environment within the college where gender equality is given utmost importance.
Various activities were conducted during the week. The details of the activities are outlined as follows:
- Day 1 (20.08.24): An extempore speech competition was held on topics related to gender issues. The two judges for the event were Mr. Ekonthung jami and Mr. Ripon Haque, Asst. professors, Dept. of English. The winners were felicitated with certificate of achievement.
- Day 2 (21.08.24): A Basic Physical Fitness Session was conducted at the College campus, with Mr. Nokintoshi Aier, Health and Fitness Trainer, as the resource person.
- Day 3 (22.08.24): A Three-legged Race Competition was held. The winning team were felicitated with certificate of achievement.
- Day 4 (23.08.24): A Painting competition was held. The winners were felicitated with certificate of achievement.
- Day 5 (24.08.24): Gender Champions visited Zoological Park and conducted interactive sessions with visitors by handing out flyers containing important helpline numbers.
The “Gender Sensitization Week 2024” was organised for the third time since its inception in the year 2022. It was a huge success, and the students gained valuable experience by participating in all the events. The key outcome and takeaway from the “Gender Sensitization Week” were the significance of raising awareness about gender issues and gender equality.
