NSS & RRC

About

The College National Service Scheme (NSS) at Unity College was established in 2012 under the auspices of the Youth Resources and Sports Government of Nagaland, Kohima. NSS is a student-centered program that complements education by fostering the spirit of voluntary work among students and teachers through ongoing community interaction. Its overarching goal is the personality development of students through community service. NSS serves as an extension dimension to the higher education system, guiding student youth towards community service while they pursue their studies in educational institutions.

The Red Ribbon Club (RRC) at Unity College was founded on September 10, 2010, under the patronage of the Nagaland State AIDS Control Society (NSACS). RRC is a movement dedicated to raising awareness about HIV/AIDS through service, education, and events. It aims to empower youth with accurate information on HIV/AIDS prevention, care, support, and treatment. RRC endeavors to cultivate peer educators who can effectively disseminate messages on positive health behavior and promote voluntary blood donation among youth.

Objectives

Our objectives encompass fostering the personal development of young students and volunteers through active engagement in community service while instilling a sense of selflessness and dedication towards ongoing efforts. We strive to raise awareness among youth, particularly students, regarding the critical issue of HIV/AIDS, aiming to empower them with knowledge and understanding. Additionally, we endeavor to cultivate a culture of voluntary blood donation among our students and volunteers, recognizing the crucial need for such contributions in saving lives and supporting healthcare initiatives.
